Stuffed Fables tells the story of a little girl who has to sleep in a big girl bed for the first time. She does not have her magical crib to protect her so the stuffed animals in her room must come to life fight off the monsters under her bed. With 2 to 4 people playing, each player takes on the role of one of the stuffed animals. Jerry Hawthorne, the designer of Stuffed Fables and other popular board games such as Mice & Mystics, is a parent with a dream to make a dungeon crawler-like game that he could play with his kids.
Each of the stuffed animals takes on different aspects of the little girl’s personality. There is Theodora, a female teddy bear who snuggles with the little girl at night and is the leader of the group. There is Old Stitch, an old sock puppet handed down from generation after generation. He represents the wisdom of the parent and adults who have had an influence in the little girl’s life. Then there is Flops, a long eared bunny who is sassy and full of agility and energy.

There is also Lionel, the grumpy little lion who the little girl plays with when she is grumpy or mad. Although small, he is tough and ready to tumble. After that comes Piggle, who is a little pig all about happiness and positivity. Last but not least is Lumpy, the little blue elephant. He is very strong for the little girl when she is sad. He is the one who she will go to with all of her woes and he’ll listen to all of them.
Along with these adorable characters comes a 104-page choose your own adventure-style book that doubles as a board game. Each of its seven chapters has multiple endings. Every gameplay can be different from the last and can have multiple gameplay experiences, such as exploration games, worker placement games and minigames. This board game is well suited for both adults and children alike.
As a father myself, I already feel connected to this game. All the stuffed animals she takes to bed with her protect her from all the monsters under her little bed. Not a single one is missing when she goes to bed.
As of right now, this game retails at 59.95 and should be available for the holiday season.
